Ralph Klein Education Centre

Calgary, AB

The Ralph Klein Education Centre features an indoor classroom, resource library, art studio, interpretive signage, and meeting spaces. Ralph Klein Park is the first park to be named after a former mayor during their lifetime.

The Ralph Klein Education Centre is located inside Ralph Klein Park in Southeast Calgary. The centre provides a learning environment for the public on wetlands, water issues, sustainability, and environmental ethics and values. Majority of the structure includes Glulam beams and joists joining the architecture to the structure. Long-span Glulam beams were used to support the patio and vegetative roof loads. The natural visuals of the Glulam material allowed for a completely exposed structure, connecting it to nature. Construction of this project required a post and beam system.
